One of the greatest satisfactions I took away from my participation in Vinitaly 2026 was the presence of my daughter Arianna, who chose to represent our family and UnMareDivino by wearing the traditional costume of Berchidda in Verona.
Many visitors, industry professionals, and journalists stopped to admire Arianna and the “simple complexity” of her costume, and everyone wanted to learn about its history.
It was a particularly meaningful moment because, alongside our wines, we had the opportunity to share an important part of the history and identity of our community.

The traditional costume of Berchidda as we know it today is the result of valuable research, recovery, and preservation work carried out over the years by the Gruppo Folk Santa Lughia, of which Arianna is a member. Through the study of historical records and participation in some of Sardinia’s most important folk events, the group has helped reconstruct and pass down the garments of the local tradition.
It is a source of pride to see young people like her dedicate so many hours of their time to research, event preparation, and even the dressing process itself, which requires great patience and skilled hands. Each dressing is, in a way, a ritual.
It is thanks to this commitment that our traditions continue to be known and appreciated by younger generations. Below is a photograph of Arianna’s grandmother, my mother-in-law, also wearing the traditional costume of Berchidda. The picture dates back approximately seventy years.
Seeing Arianna wear this costume at an international event dedicated to wine meant bringing to Verona not only the fruits of my work, but also the soul of Berchidda.
For me, wine is the expression of a territory, its people, its traditions, and the values that are passed down from one generation to the next.
I firmly believe that the strength that inspires my daily work in the vineyard and winery lies largely in this authentic bond with the land from which I come. It is a connection that continues to live through the people who inhabit it and who choose, every day, to preserve its memory and carry it into the future.
